Justyna Łuczaj's feature film debut is a contemporary adaptation of Oedipus, written into multiple characters with hidden connections. The very first shot of the film, depicting a powerful cliff and a forest filled with the cries of an infant, situates this narrative in a universal, timeless space of myth, a fairy tale that is also ruthless. In one of the subsequent scenes, Diana, a mysterious heroine, enters the story, returning to her hometown after a long absence. At the same time, a crime occurs in the area, and a young man, the main suspect, unexpectedly befriends the victim's daughter. As more secrets from the past come to light, the atmosphere becomes increasingly dense and tense. This uncompromising film by the Polish artist was produced with the participation of mostly non-professional actors, and the script served as a loose starting point. One of the driving forces behind the plot of Horse Tail was improvisation, embodying the interesting concept of the author's „living process without rigidly defined outcome.”
